Day 01

Arrival in Tashkent. Meet and Greet.

The An-2 is the largest single-engine biplane ever produced. Its prototype was first flown on August 31, 1947. The An-2 is still in service all around the world, with An-2 flying in all the states of Eastern Europe and China, France, Greece, the Netherlands, CIS countries and Africa.

Khiva

Transfer to the airport to take flight to Nukus by HY 1001 07:00-09:45.

Arrival in Nukus. Sightseeing in Nukus.

Get on board of AN 2 biplane for the

Aral see area flying excursion (5

hrs).

Proceed with flight to Khiva by AN2

biplane.

Accommodation upon arrival in

Khiva. Dinner.

Day 03

 

Khiva –

Bukhara

Breakfast.

Sightseeing round Ichan Kala ( Inner

Town): citadels, palaces, mosques

and mausoleums.

Lunch in a family house.

Visit f   Transfer to the airport. Get on board of AN2 biplane. Flight to Bukhara (4 hrs).

 

Arrival in Bukhara. Accommodation.

Being designed as a utility aircraft this huge biplane has become a multi-purpose aircraft used by the military, agricultural and commercial sectors. During this tour you will experience the flights on board of the most common An-2T version, which is the 12-seater passenger aircraft.

One of the advantageous design features of AN-2 biplane is its slow-speed and low altitude flight ability (it is possible to fly lower than birds’ flight), as well as ability to stop on short runways, to land on unsurfaced airstrips, to fly backwards (a rare ability even among Short Take Off and Landing aircraft).

The AN-2 was developed by Oleg Antonov, who had been an aircraft designer during the World War II. He formed his own bureau for creating multi-purpose planes, which were originally designed for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in the former Soviet Union.

The An-2 is recorded in “Guinness Book” for its 45 year production run, the longest ever for any aircraft in the world. Since 1947 there were produced about 18,500 AN-2 biplanes.

According to accident statistics AN-2 is one of the safest aircraft in the world.

It requires little maintenance and is easy to fly.

The An-2 is still in service with over 30 air forces and has been used by Aeroflot and other eastern airlines.
