COVID-19 Updates from Uzbekistan

Measures taken in due time and restrictions imposed helped to stop the spread of the infection, and the healthcare system, quickly rebuilt for the emergency protected the Republic from colossal loss.
At the present time Uzbekistan lives in its usual rhythm as most of the COVID restrictions have been lifted and new COVID 19 cases rate is very low and the benchmark among neighboring countries.

Thanks to cooperation with partners from China, vaccination of the population with the ZF - UZ 2001 vaccine began in Uzbekistan in January 2021, and already in February Uzbekistan was recognized as co-author of the vaccine and received permission to produce the vaccine on its territory.

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan has also developed a plan for vaccination with the Russian vaccine Sputnik - V. The vaccine was certified on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan and was recognized as completely safe and suitable for mass use.

The start of the first part of the plan will begin this spring, after receiving a large batch of vaccine from Russian partners. Uzbekistan, as a member country of the COVAX initiative, with the support of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovation (CEPI), will receive the Comirnaty vaccine developed by BioNTech and Pfizer, as well as a large batch of the Anglo - Swedish vaccine AstraZeneca.
