The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan announced recently, that the launch of high-speed passenger train from Almaty (Kazakhstan) to Tashkent (Uzbekistan) is planned for 2014.
The planned new train route will help in shortening the current travel times between Almaty and Tashkent in 1.5-2 times.
According to the press release of the Ministry, in 2013 174 passenger cars, including 125 cars "Tulpar - Talgo" were purchased for the Kazakhstan Railways. By the end of the year, it’s planned to purchase 51 more cars.
Currently, Tashkent and Almaty are connected by two rail routes - Nukus- Almaty and Tashkent -Novosibirsk.
